Our eco-responsible approach

From the design of the models to their arrival at your home, everything has been thought out to reduce our impact on the environment and allow you to enjoy your Kallisto for as long as possible.

Concept & Design

All our models are designed in Belgium 🇧🇪 with your comfort and durability in mind.
Our cups are stretchy across 2 cup sizes , allowing you to wear your Kallisto during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and afterwards - either yourself or by passing it on to another mom ❤️
Every detail, from the breastfeeding opening system to the positioning of the labels, has been designed to make your life easier .
The prototypes were validated after several rounds of revisions with the workshop, thanks to the valuable feedback from more than 35 mother testers .

Our materials

All materials used for Kallisto nursing lingerie are carefully selected according to strict specifications.

All our suppliers are located in the European Union, in order to (1) minimize the carbon footprint of our products and (2) ensure good working and manufacturing conditions.

- Recycled lace certified by the Global Recycled Standard (Italy 🇮🇹)
- GOTS certified organic cotton (Portugal 🇵🇹)
- Absorbent material certified Oeko-Tex 100 (France 🇫🇷)
- Oeko-Tex 100 certified drainage material (Spain 🇪🇸)
- Waterproof material (laminated polyurethane) certified Oeko-Tex 100 (Spain 🇪🇸)
- Portuguese haberdashery (fasteners, clasps, rings, elastic bands…) 🇵🇹

The dyeing of the fabrics takes place in a closed circuit in Portugal 🇵🇹 in order not to contaminate the environment (that's the basic principle!).

The garment workshop

For the production of the models, we chose a family workshop in Portugal 🇵🇹 run by a woman, who employs about fifty other women.

The working conditions are great, the seamstresses specialize in lingerie, and it's important for us to support European SMEs run by girlbosses!

To minimize cutting waste, the workshop optimizes fabric cutting and recovers lace scraps for panty details. Stunning while reducing waste!

The packaging

For your parcel packaging, we have chosen compact envelopes made from recycled plastic sourced from bottles collected on Indonesian beaches by people for whom collection has become their main source of income. It is then reusable and recyclable.

Why not cardboard?

Cardboard has several disadvantages that led us to opt for recycled plastic envelopes:
1. The pile of cardboard boxes in our domestic recycling bins, of which we only reuse a tiny fraction.
2. The weather. For a Belgian brand, rain is a real problem! So rather than using cardboard boxes and packing the models in ultra-polluting plastic bags to protect them, we opted for a waterproof box which allows us to simply wrap the models in recyclable tissue paper.
3. Volume. Lingerie is compact. So packing parcels in cardboard boxes doesn't make sense: plastic envelopes allow more parcels to be stacked per trip, thus reducing the CO2 footprint of deliveries.

And then what?

Once you have finished breastfeeding, what happens to your Kallisto?

It will still be in superb condition, so several options are available to you:

1. Keep wearing it! If the size still fits you, why end such a beautiful story?
2. Pass it on to another mother. If the size no longer fits you, or if you want to please a loved one who is about to breastfeed.
3. Resell it second-hand. Through an online platform, or via a specialized store: there are more and more of them.
4. Donate it. To an association, or to a solidarity collection organization for example.

In short, there are plenty of options to extend the lifespan of your Kallisto 😉
